Entire families came. With concentrated and serious faces at first, they are gradually starting to smile. Roman and Rasťo start by explaining what the project is about. “Even your children may study in secondary schools. It is Tuesday and it is raining outside. We are sitting around the table in one of the back rooms in the church in this settlement. One can really say that this church is the place of fellowship. One minute you see the pastor preparing for the sermon, then we have meetings of the Local Team, and we also run our regular activities with children in this house.
/ Diskusia ()The Gipsy Bashavel attendance exceeded 2,500
This Saturday the Červený Kameň Castle was flooded by the fans of Romany culture and arts. More than 2,500 people came to enjoy The Gipsy Bashavel. The children of the Divé maky program offered a showcase of all of their talents. On the meadow by the castle they presented their paintings, played theatre, demonstrated athletic skills, taught people how to dance, and treated us to authentic Romany tunes. Visitors were also attracted to the culinary show featuring Romany meals. The evening program exceeded all expectations. The children of Divé maky emanated so much temperament that they got the audience dancing by the end of their show.

After a hectic academic year the project Divé maky – The Chance for Romany Talents from Entire Slovakia switched to its summer schedule. In Jarovnice, the largest Romany settlement in Slovakia, the 100 children enrolled in the program just came back from the Summer Workshop that took place in the Canyon hotel of Lipovce.

On Sunday, 2 May the Javorná hotel in Drienica was the site of the first four-day workshop for 100 children from the Divé maky – The Chance for Romany Talents from Entire Slovakia pilot project. The workshop was attended by the 29 most talented children from the Divé maky program.

The first Dance Workshop in the Special Elementary School in Jarovnice was organized on Saturday, 20 February 2010. It was lead by the professional dancer Mgr. Ladislav Cmorej.
The meeting was attended by 36 children who passed Talent Tryouts in November 2009 under the pilot project “Divé maky – The Chance For Romany Talents From Entire Slovakia”. The next Dance Workshop is planned for March 2010.

On Friday, 11 December we organized a training of local tutors and the project coordinator for the “Divé maky – The Chance For Romany Talents From Entire Slovakia” project in the Pastoring Centre in the Jarovnice Romany settlement. The training was attended by 6 tutors, the coordinator, 2 tutor supervisors, representatives of the PRO DONUM civil association, an expert on Romany settlements Marek Harakaľ and Ľubica Fabišíková, director of the Educational and Psychological Counselling Centre in Sabinov.
